Is this place the greatest joint in which to get a takeout lunch? I think it is.
Busy to the point of almost obnoxious, the fact that the ladies who run Azores Bakery are still charming, positive, and caring amazes me. The most personal service possible.
The bifana sandwiches are the way to go. Spicy, sweet, tender and savoury. I get them for myself and a co-worker at least twice a month. We always take a moment to say "can you believe how good these are?!"
Breaded pork sandwiches are another favourite.
You want something cold? Get yourself a deli sandwich on a Portuguese bun. I cannot understand how they turn a profit on these prices.
If you're feeling sinful, get some of the roasted pork belly. I eat it in secret shame in my car on the way back to work. I think it's keto, though so maybe I don't need that shame.
Daily soup is always amazing.
The pastry counter is terrific. All of the reasons why you love Portuguese desserts are on offer.
Great European grocery selections as well as fresh bread, buns and frozen foods round out what is Cambridge's best secret business.
